Deus (is the Latin word for 'god' or 'deity'. Latin deus ('divine') are in turn descended from Proto-Indo-European deiwos, 'celestial' or 'shining', from the same root as Dyēus, the reconstructed chief god of the Proto-Indo-European pantheon.)
